Honoring mutual care
Nearly 2,600 years ago, the Buddha established a radical and mutually beneficial relationship between the monastic and lay community that continues today in Theravada Buddhism.
The monastic code (Vinaya) requires the ordained monastic Sangha to live in dependence upon lay (non-ordained) Buddhists for some of their practical needs.
For instance, monastics cannot grow or prepare their own food and therefore must accept food that is freely offered by lay people. Motivated by deep faith in the ethical integrity of monastics who dedicate their life to awakening, lay people are thus able to cultivate the virtue of generosity as a foundation for their own meditation practice, whilst benefiting from the wisdom and example of monastics who practice with sincerity.

Offering time and skills
Would you like to help the bhikkhuni Sangha flourish by donating your time and skills? You’re welcome to join our WhatsApp groups, to receive updates about what’s needed. Some things can be done remotely, while other kinds of help are more local in nature. To get started, tell us a bit about your interests, skills and availability: team@anukampaproject.org.
Financial donations
If you are in a fortunate position to give monetarily, that is great! We sincerely appreciate donations of any amount and invite you to rejoice in your generosity, knowing it is helping us spread the Buddha’s priceless teachings. There are six ways to make a financial donation:
1. Standing orders
Standing orders allow the Anukampa Bhikkhuni Project charity to plan ahead. You can set up a standing order with your bank using the following details (for donations of £10,000 or more, it is essential to include your email contact details with the transaction):

2. Wise transfers
To save fees and get better exchange rates on standing orders or other donations, Wise is a great option. Wise uses the real exchange rate for sending money, which means fair and transparent international transfers with a low upfront fee. Please be sure to send UK/British Pound sterling (GBP), not other currency. You can use our Wise referral link.
3. PayPal
The PayPal Donate button below will take you to the PayPal website. Please note that PayPal charges Anukampa 1.4% + 30p per transaction.
You do not require a PayPal account to donate by debit and credit cards and some other local payment systems (see our guide to paying without a PayPal account).
Alternatively, you can donate from your PayPal account directly, without using the Donate Button below. Just log into your account and click Send Money to finances@anukampaproject.org (sending money this way saves us fees, and sometimes no fee is charged to Anukampa).
Recurring donations can be made by selecting “Make this a monthly donation.”
Attention Facebook users: If you have clicked through from Facebook on your iPhone/iPad, please click the three little dots […] at the bottom of your screen now and choose “Open in browser” to be able to use the Donation button.
4. SumUp with QR code
The SumUp platform may be ideal if you would like to make a donation using a credit card but can’t access PayPal in your country. Please note that SumUp currently charges Anukampa a 2.5% fee per transaction. We are working to get this fee lowered, so stay tuned!

5. Gift aid donation
UK tax payers can maximise their donations by reclaiming an additional 25p on every £1 donated from taxes paid in the current tax year. To donate this way, complete our gift aid form.

6. Leaving a legacy
By leaving a donation to Anukampa Bhikkhuni Project in your Will, you support Anukampa Bhikkhuni Project’s future as a precious vehicle for spreading the Dhamma and teaching others to live more harmonious lives.
Anukampa Grove is the only monastic residence in the UK for bhikkhunis. It is a sanctuary of practice and peace for bhikkhunis and their guests alike, and your donation will help us maintain and develop it for generations to come. As we cannot give legal advice, please consult a solicitor prior to making any decisions about leaving a donation in your Will.
It is worth making a Will and keeping it up to date, ensuring your assets and financial affairs are managed according to your wishes and to provide certainty for those you may leave behind.
