SUMMARY:Online New Year Weekend Retreat with Ajahn Canda: "Releasing Resent
 ment\, Rediscovering Joy"
DESCRIPTION:This New Year retreat invites us to let go of old burdens and r
ediscover the natural joy and goodness that lie within us.\n\nMany of us c
arry resentment\, regret or disappointment from the past. While these resp
onses are understandable\, when held onto they can become a source of ongo
ing suffering\, bitterness and disconnection\, preventing us from fully ap
preciating the richness of our lives. During this retreat\, we will explor
e practical and effective ways to work with difficult emotions\, heal old
wounds and develop a lightness of heart.\n\nThrough meditation\, reflectio
n and discussion we will investigate how to release harmful perceptions an
d strengthen qualities that support genuine well-being\, such as forgivene
ss\, gratitude and reverence for nature\, learning how small adjustments i
n attitude can profoundly transform our experience.\n\nThe retreat will al
so focus on clarifying and strengthening the values we wish to live by\, c
reating wholesome and beneficial habits\, and nurturing the inner qualitie
s that support a meaningful\, joyful life. As we begin a new year\, this i
s an opportunity to open to fresh possibilities\, create wholesome habits\
, renew our sense of purpose and reconnect with the goodness already prese
nt in our hearts.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAs this is an online home-retreat\, you ma

ance – including the personal practice period – is advisable for this
retreat\, so you can experience the full potential of the practice and par
ticipate in creating a conducive community space. Due to the time zone\, i
t will therefore work best for people in the UK and Europe (or the east co
ast of the US if you are willing to adopt forest monastery time and rise e
arly!) If most of the online schedule will not work for you\, we kindly as
k that you leave the space for someone else and instead watch the recordin
gs once we upload them to our YouTube channel.\n\nPlease check the retreat
schedule against your time zone here.\n\nHow To Have A Home Retreat\nPrac
ticing in an online retreat can be a very rewarding experience. Unlike sim
ply watching online teachings  on your own\, you become part of a mutuall
y supportive spiritual community. An online retreat also differs from an i
n-person retreat\, by giving you the opportunity to carve out a tailor-mad
e space for yourself\, (at home or in a place of your choice)\, where you
can dedicate yourself to silent practice without the usual distractions an
d disturbances\, and gain confidence in your ability to practice wherever
you are.\n\nTo support yourself in this process\, Noble Silence is encoura
ged throughout the retreat. This means remaining in silence as much as pos
sible and abstaining from the use of electronic devices\, especially mobil
e phones!  It is also important to attend all or most of the online sessi
ons so you can receive proper teacher guidance.\n\nTo help you decide whet
her this format would suit you\, we offer some thoughts about the benefits
of an online retreat and consider some of the potential challenges – as
well as possible solutions – so you can make fruitful use of your time.
\nBenefits:\n- Continuity of practice which helps you gain more benefit fr
om meditation\n- Safety\, intimacy and support of an enclosed group\n- Opp
ortunity for personal guidance through questions to the teachers\n- Increa
sed confidence in your ability to practice wherever you are\n- The food th
at suits your tummy ~ and no one snoring in your dorm!\nChallenges and sol
utions:\nIf you are living alone you have a ready-made hermitage! Turn off
your phone\, put on the vacation responder and do your weekly shop in adv
ance. Use ear plugs if it is especially noisy and take a walk in a peacefu
l park at the quietest times of day. This will help you immensely in obser
ving Noble Silence and cultivating sense restraint\, which inclines the mi
nd toward inner happiness and facilitates quietening the mind.\n\nFor thos
e who do not live alone\, home retreats may pose the challenge being aroun
d family members\, friends or lodgers who are not on retreat! In this case
\, you may need to put a few extra measures in place to enable you to obse
rve Noble Silence and maintain your inner focus. Perhaps consider asking t
hem to support you on retreat by keeping interactions to an absolute minim
um and having a note system for any absolutely necessary communication. Ma
ybe someone kind could offer to cook your favourite food and leave your me
als outside your door\, or you could arrange times to use the kitchen alon
e? If you have children or teens it might be difficult to keep the noise d
own\, so you could consider booking into a quiet hotel or apartment and t
une in to the sessions from there.\nJoining from the same household\nIf mo
re than one person from the same household wishes to join the retreat\, pl
ease make separate bookings and log in from separate computers. This ensur
es our numbers are manageable for the Q&amp\;A sessions and enables you to
practice as though alone.\n\n\nRegistration Fees\nThe retreat teachings a
re offered on a donation basis to make the Dhamma accessible to all. Our v
olunteers have generously organised this in their own free time and neithe
r they nor the two teachers receive any remuneration. To honour the wisdom
\, time and commitment of our teachers\, you will be invited to offer dona
tions at the end of the retreat. Your donations will help us support the r
unning costs of our new Anukampa Grove\, which will be the physical hub of
our community and a haven of peace\, and provide for the monastics requis
ites. Please give with a heart of generosity and joy\, whilst respecting y
our own personal financial situation.\n\nThe registration fee ensures your
commitment to attending the retreat\, as we generally experience a 25% no
-show rate to online events. When this happens others may lose a potential
ly life changing opportunity to practice. The registration fee contributes
towards our admin and the running expenses of Anukampa Grove. If you are
unable to afford this\, please contact us. Alternatively\, you can listen
to the teachings later on our YouTube channel.\n\nPlease note that the re
gistration fee is NON REFUNDABLE.\n\nNote:\n\n1. After your registration\
, you will receive an email with your Ticket/Booking Confirmation almost i
mmediately. Please check your junk mail box if you do not receive it. You
can also add our email address bookings@anukampaproject.org as a contact
to prevent emails from us going into the junk folder.\n\n2. If you do not
receive your ticket within an hour\, please contact us at bookings@anukamp
aproject.org. Please be aware that emails that we send to non-Gmail\, Hotm
ail or Outlook email account outside the UK (e.g. .pl\; .gmx etc)\, are of
ten rejected as 'undelivered' for unknown reasons. Please therefore contac
t us from a Gmail\, Hotmail or Outlook email account where at all possible
 \, to save disappointment.\n\n&nbsp\;
