DESCRIPTION:As the years' end draws nigh and between the Christmas and New 
 Year celebrations\, nestles a special day celebrating the great contributi
 on of women to Buddhism!\n&nbsp\;\nSanghamitta Day is a major Buddhist fes
 tival held annually in honour of one of our Great bhikkhuni foremothers\, 
 Venerable Sanghamitta Theri\; a fully enlightened Arahant\, who's father
  was the Great Emperor Asoka. Ven Sanghamitta Theri went to Sri Lanka to e
 stablish the Bhikkhuni Sangha there\, arriving by sea from India with a sa
 pling of the Bodhi tree under which the Buddha awakened to the Four Noble 
 Truths. The sapling was planted at Anuradhapura in 288 BC and is the world
 's oldest known living tree - and the Bhikkhuni Sangha is growing in stren
 gth in Sri Lanka\, and around the world\, today.\n&nbsp\;\n\nTo commemorat
 e this auspicious event\, Ven Canda has been invited to lead an online Dha
 mma session\, open to all\, as part of a full day programme at the Thames 
 Buddhist Vihara\, between 2:30 – 3:45 pm. The theme is "Contentment and 
 Letting Go\," and will include a guided meditation\, Dhamma talk and an op
 portunity for Q&amp\;A.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nJoin Ven Canda and the Thames Buddhi
 st Vihara on Sunday 27th December\, for this special programme in celebrat
 ion of the contribution of women to Buddhism and dedicated to all people e
 verywhere interested in deepening their Dhamma practice.\n&nbsp\;\nFor the
